Green Growth

Green growth is a development model that aims to reduce energy and raw material consumption. Stressing the need to do more than simply secure supplies of non-renewable resources, green growth involves transforming production and consumption processes in order to preserve or restore the regulatory functions of natural capital. However, this concept is controversial : while it represents a technological and economic opportunity for industrialised countries, many developing countries view it as a constraint that could hinder their social priorities and economic growth.
